DESCRIPTION: APW - Hamilton, "Otto Burklund, Mo. Pac. Special, Osawatomie, Kans" marked mvt, Grade 941, 21J, 18S, gold-filled HC recase with attractive engraving detail including a small idyllic lakeside home scene to lower rear, "Otto Burklund" marked white enamel DS dial, time zone hands, SW-LS, fully capped lever escapement, nickel damascene, s#85612. An interesting and very rare railroad associated marking; Otto Burkland was the official railroad watch inspector in Osawatomie, KS for the Missouri Pacific Railroad between the years 1900 and 1907. In 1907, Burklund moved to Moberly, Missouri where he operated as a watch inspector for the Wabash Railroad. From the well-known Hamilton collection of Robert Bennett of Olivehurst, California.
CONDITION: Mvt: Running, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, bright lustrous surfaces, some short scratches and some fine scratches around right side case screw position, some abrasion at inner edge of barrel bridge adjacent regulator adjustment screw, few fine to micro-fine scratches elsewhere; dial with outer chapter hl at 7:30, faint hl above seconds-register, circular scratch within seconds-register, few small flakes at center hole; fine hands, minute missing a bit of its tip, red time zone hand with some paint loss at its base; case shows hardly any wear, no dents or dings, excellent engraving detail; tight bow, crown shows light wear; good glass crystal.
